Spinach Artichoke Dip Recipe

Ingredients

  • Cheese
  • Mayo
  • Sour Cream
  • Spinach
  • Artichokes
  • Garlic Salt
  • Onion Powder
  • (Optional) Fresh Spinach (12 oz. in place of frozen)
  • (Optional) Fresh Garlic (2-3 large cloves, if used, add 2 tsp of sea salt)

Instructions:

  • Ensure that the cream cheese is softened for easy mixing. This can be done by taking the cream cheese out of the refrigerator a few hours before you plan to make the dip.
  • Alternatively, if you forget to do this, you can microwave the cream cheese for about 30 seconds, potentially needing up to a minute and a half in 30-second increments to soften.
  • Combine all the ingredients in a bowl. It will be easier to mix if the cream cheese has been softened as mentioned.
  • Once you have combined all the ingredients, transfer the mixture to an oven-safe dish and top with additional cheese. The dip is then baked in the oven.
  • Although the original process described involves baking in a bread loaf pan, any oven-safe dish will work, such as a preferred Staub Baking Dish.
  • For the artichokes, both canned or jarred versions are suitable. If using canned artichokes, ensure they are drained.
  • If using jarred artichokes, it’s recommended to drain and lightly rinse them as they are usually stored in oil.
  • This recipe produces a generous amount of Spinach Artichoke Dip, yielding approximately 10-15 servings.

For Traditional Serving

Additional Tips and Tricks

  • If you prefer to use fresh spinach, 12 oz. of fresh can be substituted for 16 oz.
  • Fresh spinach doesn’t need to be pre-cooked as it will cook during the baking process. However, fresh spinach may result in a slightly bulkier dip.
  • For a fresher garlic taste, you can use 2-3 large cloves of fresh garlic, grated or pressed, in place of garlic salt.
  • Remember to add salt to the dish since the garlic salt also contributes to the overall saltiness.
