Simple ingredients come together to create cookies that not only taste incredible but also look impressive. Whether dipped in chocolate or enjoyed plain, each bite brings a dash of sweetness and the nostalgic warmth of classic holiday baking.

Best Butter Cookies Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) Unsalted Butter, softened
  • 2/3 cup Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1 Large Egg
  • Milk (optional, only if needed to adjust dough consistency)

For the optional ingredients:

  • Melted white or semisweet chocolate
  • Assorted sprinkles for decoration

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, whisk together the flour and salt; set aside.
  2. In a mixing bowl with a paddle attachment, cream the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Add the vanilla extract and egg to the butter mixture, and beat until well combined. Make sure to scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed.
  4. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until the dough is well combined, but avoid over-mixing.
  5. If the dough is too stiff and not pipeable, you can add a teaspoon of milk at a time until it reaches the desired consistency.
  6. Pipe the dough into desired shapes on an ungreased cookie sheet. If you don’t have a piping bag, you can also use a cookie press, or form the dough into small balls and flatten them slightly.
  7. Chill the formed cookies in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes to prevent spreading while baking.
  8. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  9. Bake the chilled cookies for about 10-12 minutes or until the edges are just slightly golden.
  10. Let the cookies rest on the cookie sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  11. If desired, dip cooled cookies into melted chocolate and decorate with sprinkles. Allow the chocolate to set before serving.
