Cheesy Christmas Tree Bread
Ingredients:
- Refrigerator pizza dough
- Parchment paper
- Mozzarella cheese sticks
- 1 egg
- Butter
- Grated Parmesan cheese
- Parsley
- Rosemary
- Basil
- Grated garlic
- Marinara sauce, pizza sauce, and/or pesto for dipping
Instructions:
- Preheat the Oven: Start by preheating your oven to 400°F (204°C). Then, line a large baking sheet with a piece of parchment paper for easy cleanup.
- Prepare the Dough: Open the tube of pizza dough and roll it out on a lightly floured surface. With a pizza cutter or a sharp knife, cut the dough into 30 squares.
- Cheese It Up: Cut the mozzarella cheese sticks into 30 approximately equal (1-inch) pieces. Place a piece of cheese on each dough square.
- Form the Balls: Wrap the dough around the cheese, forming tightly sealed balls. Ensure the edges are pinched well to keep the cheese from oozing out.
- Arrange the Tree: Place the dough balls on the prepared baking sheet seam side down. Arrange them in the shape of a Christmas tree, with the balls lightly touching each other.
- Brush with Egg Wash: In a small bowl, whisk together the egg with a little water. Lightly brush this egg wash over the dough balls.
- Bake: Bake for 16-18 minutes, or until the dough turns golden brown.
- Prepare the Garlic-Butter Mix: While the bread bakes, melt the butter (15-30 seconds in the microwave should do it). Mix in half of the grated parmesan cheese, all the grated garlic, and the herbs into the melted butter.
- Finish and Serve: Once the bread is baked, remove it from the oven. Brush the herb and garlic butter mix over the top, then sprinkle with the remaining Parmesan cheese. Serve with marinara, pizza sauce, or pesto on the side for dipping.
Enjoy this festive Cheesy Christmas Tree Bread as a fun and delicious appetizer or side during your holiday season! It’s not only a treat to the palate but also a delightful addition to your holiday table.
