  • Later, repeat with chain 4 in place of chain 3 for variation, then end with chain 5 and sc.
  • Finish with chain 1, cut yarn.

Repeat for both sides of the back.

Attach yarn at first marker.

Make straps:

  • Chain 1, sc in same stitch and next 3 stitches (4 sc total). Chain 1, turn.
  • Sc in every stitch, chaining 1 at end, turning.

  • Weave all loose ends securely.

Tutor Suggestions

  • The ruffles can be lengthened or shortened by adding or skipping rounds as desired.
  • Adjust strap length to suit different sizing needs.
  • Sleeves are optional – for summer wear, go sleeveless for a classic look.
  • Use stitch markers liberally to maintain even spacing on straps.
  • For best effect, use a lighter cotton yarn that showcases ruffles and textures well.

Tip

When joining the straps to the back, use mattress stitch or whip stitch carefully to avoid bulky seams. This gives a neat finish and comfortable wear.

Conclusion

This Adeline baby doll top combines elegance with cute ruffled texture and allows versatile styling with or without sleeves. It is perfect for intermediate crocheters wanting to explore post stitches and shaping. Try different yarns and colors for new looks! Share your finished tops to spread the love of crochet fashion.
