Ingredients:

  • Steak (preferably New York Strip steaks)
  • Fresh Asparagus
  • Marinade ingredients: herbs, garlic, balsamic, and honey

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Marinade: Combine herbs, garlic, balsamic vinegar, and honey in a bowl. Stir to mix well.
  2. Marinate the Steak: Cut the steak into evenly sized pieces suitable for skewers. Place the steak pieces in the marinade, ensuring each piece is well-coated. Let it marinate to infuse the flavors.
  3. Prep the Asparagus: Trim the ends of the asparagus and if they’re very thick, consider slicing them lengthwise to cook evenly.
  4. Assemble the Kabobs: Thread the marinated steak and asparagus pieces alternately onto metal skewers. Aim for even spacing to ensure uniform cooking.

Grilling:

  1. Preheat the Grill: Heat your grill to a high setting for those nice grill marks.
  2. Grill the Kabobs: Place the kabobs on the grill. Grill for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until the steak reaches your preferred doneness:
    • 125°F for rare
    • 135°F for medium-rare
    • 145°F for medium
    • 155°F for medium-well
    • 165°F for well done
  3. Use a thermometer: Always check the temperature using a meat thermometer to ensure perfect doneness. Make sure the thermometer isn’t touching the metal skewers.

Grilling Tips:

  • Use metal skewers as they are more durable and don’t require soaking like bamboo skewers.
  • Choose flat skewers to prevent the ingredients from spinning.
  • Mind the heat: Since kabob pieces are small, they cook relatively quickly, so keep an eye on them to avoid overcooking.

Serving:

Serve hot directly off the grill. You can accompany the kabobs with sauces or dips that complement the flavors, like a creamy garlic sauce or a balsamic reduction.

Enjoy grilling and savor these delicious steak and asparagus kabobs with your friends and family!
