Materials You Will Need:
- Wooden panels (four panels, each 12” x 36”)
- Ruler or straight-edge tool
- Pencil
- Painter’s tape
- X-Acto knife
- Craft paint
- Used credit card or brayer
- Paintbrushes
- Table saw (optional)
- Sandpaper (optional)
Step by Step guide:
Measurement and Cutting: If you have a table saw handy, you can cut the wooden panels to the desired size. If you don’t, no worries! Many places offer wood-cutting services.
Smoothening Edges: If necessary, use sandpaper to provide a smoother finish for the edges of your wooden panels.
Drawing Squares: Draw squares on the wooden panels using a straight-edge tool. Feel free to get creative with the size and placement of the squares.
Applying Painter’s Tape: Secure the borders of the squares with painter’s tape. This will ensure clean, straight edges to your design. You can also reinforce the tape using Mod Podge to keep a firm seal.
Painting: It’s time to paint! Use the credit card, brayer, or paintbrushes to apply the craft paint within the taped squares. Let your choice of vibrant colors bring your design to life.
Finishing Touches: Once the paint dries, carefully remove the painter’s tape to reveal your incredible modern art piece.
Optional: Attach D-rings to the back of the art piece for easy hanging.
